I’ll start off with a bit of background information about me.  I am the third oldest of eight children (maiden name is Schmitz). I was born in Central Butte, SK, and have also lived in Wynyard, SK, Nipawin, SK, Revelstoke, BC, Minnedosa, MB, and Brandon, MB.   In Brandon, I met and married my husband, Grant.  Our extended family live in Brandon, Carberry, Winnipeg, (MB) Calgary, Balzac, and Drumheller (AB)

Our children, now adults, were both born in Brandon.  In 1985, Grant and I moved to Regina.  Grant says the next time he moves it will be in a pine box, so I think we’ll be here for quite a while!

Our son, Dale and his fiancé, Cari are currently attending the University of Edmonton, after being overseas in Taiwan for 14 months.  They are getting married in July 2007.

Our daughter, Tara is currently attending the University of Saskatchewan after being in Australia for 6 months.  In her spare time, she does Scottish Highland dancing.

I started stitching about 25 years ago, and nothing has been the same since.  (Grant’s had some adjustment to do).  I wish I had known enough about stitching and designing to have started my business when I was staying home raising my children.  I started designing gradually, but in 1997 decided to market my designs, and Heartfelt Designs was born.

I design in many techniques of counted thread including hardanger, canvas work, pulled thread, and cross stitch.  A lot of my designs use specialty threads and a wide variety of stitches.

I am a member of The Needlework Designers of Canada (NDC), The Regina Stitchery Guild (RSG) and the Embroiderers' Association of Canada EAC).  I’ve taught locally as well as at EAC’s Seminar 2002 and an EAC Cyber Workshop in 2006.  One of my designs, Yin Yang, was featured in Embroidery Canada (September 2002 issue).   I also serve on the Board of Directors for EAC as the Youth Embroiderers’ Director.  For more information about NDC or EAC, please see my Links Page.  For more information about RSG, please send me an e-mail.

I look forward to receiving any comments you may have regarding my designs.

Happy stitching!

Carol
